Our use of non-human animals is not an isolated issue. In fact, it is the most important and interconnected social justice issue of our time because the continuation of their exploitation imposes unimaginable cruelty on sentient life, exacts devastating effects on international economies, compromises personal health, directly contributes to the destruction of our environment, and perpetuates the notion

of “the other”. Throughout history, factions of individuals have been ignorantly victimized and oppressed on irrelevant grounds (e.g. gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, and even cognitive abilities). We are now facing the mirror of our own morality and must confront the fact that we are making these very same retrograde errors in regards to the vulnerable creatures on our plates, in our medicine cabinets,

in cages on display, and stitched into our clothes.
